Good Morning,
There has been an increase in keyless vehicle thefts reported to South Wales Police over the last week across the Rhondda Cynon Taff area. Officers are following up lines of enquiry and investigations are ongoing. Residents are advised to take extra precautions -
Keeping Your Vehicle Safe- Use a Faraday pouch*: Store your keyless car keys in a Faraday pouch to block signals and prevent thieves from accessing your vehicle remotely.Park smart: Always choose well-lit, busy areas where possible. Thieves are less likely to target vehicles in visible locations.Lock it every time: Even if you’re only leaving your car for a minute, ensure it is locked and windows are fully closed.Be cautious with keyless entry: Vehicles with keyless systems can be vulnerable to relay theft. Keep keys away from doors and windows at home.Remove valuables: Don’t leave items on display—bags, phones, and tools can attract opportunistic thieves.Install security devices: Steering wheel locks, pedal locks or tracking devices to add extra layers of protection.Secure at home: If possible, park on a driveway or in a garage, and consider CCTV or motion lighting.Stay alert- Report suspicious behaviour around vehicles to South Wales Police via our website, web chat, or by calling 101 or 999 Anonymous Reporting: If you prefer, you can report information anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111
